Roger Allen “Bubba” Cothren, Jr., beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, February 5, 2024.He was 57 years old.
Born in Huntsville, Alabama, Roger was the son of Irma Alsobrooks Cothren and the late Roger Allen Cothren, Sr. He spent his formative years primarily in Warner Robins, Geogia. Roger attended Sacred Heart Catholic School before transferring to Northside High School, where he participated in the drumline.
Following high school, Roger entered the home construction trade, and established RLK Trimming, where he became well known for his masterful trim work across the Middle Georgia area. Later in his career, Roger dedicated himself to the Houston County Landfill, where he diligently worked as an employee for over 14 years.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Roger found immense joy in his various hobbies and interests. He indulged in his passion for model trains and collecting matchbox cars and he especially loved when Caroline “Bittles” would come over “rearrange” his train village. Roger also cherished his moments spent with his family, especially with his wife while RV camping, fishing, going to the beach, and just enjoying life. You could always find him in his man cave watching the MotorTrend channel, The Big Bang Theory, and Barrett-Jackson. Roger’s greatest passion was cheering for Alabama football and spending time with his dogs, “Jethro” and “Leroy”.
Above all else, Roger’s greatest devotion was to his family and friends. He was protective and would do anything for them. Roger will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
His memory will be forever treasured by his beloved wife of 23 years, Kimberly Cothren; children, Roger Allen Cothren, III of Barnesville and Tyler Cothren (Skylar Dunn) of Forsyth; and grandchildren, Sophia Olivia Clarey and Lainey Jo Cothren. In addition to his mother, Roger is also survived by his siblings, Judith Ann Byrd (David) and Michael Joseph Cothren (Cozette).
A memorial gathering will be held February 9, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A memorial service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at McCullough Funeral Home. Roger will be laid to rest privately.
