Ronald “Ronnie” Wilson Roberts, age 78, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025. He was born on July 28, 1947, in Perry, Georgia, to the late Elza “Scoop” Wilson Roberts and Doris Windham Roberts. A lifelong resident of Houston County, Ronnie was deeply rooted in the community that shaped him and that he loved so dearly.

Ronnie was born in Perry and graduated from Northside High School. Following graduation, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy. He served honorably on active duty from 1966 to 1970, and later continued his commitment in the Navy Reserves. His service included time in Vietnam from 1972 to 1975, for which he earned a Certificate of Honor. During his military career, Ronnie earned numerous awards and medals, reflecting his dedication, courage, and unwavering commitment to his country, including the National Defense Service Medal; the Vietnam Service Medal with three campaign stars; the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device; and the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon (Second Award). Ronnie was immensely proud of his military service and carried that pride throughout his life.

A devoted patriot, Ronnie was a 23-year member of American Legion Post 0172 and a life member of VFW Post 6675. He believed strongly in supporting fellow veterans and honoring the freedoms he worked to protect.

Ronnie had a love for life and people. He enjoyed entertaining, playing the guitar, and singing, especially songs by his favorite artist, Elvis Presley. He also had a deep appreciation for country music. His great—though characteristically dry—sense of humor brought smiles to those who knew him best.

Later in life, Ronnie became a restaurant owner at Lake Sinclair, where his love of hospitality and conversation shone through. Whether through music, laughter, or a shared story, he had a gift for bringing people together.

Ronnie Wilson Roberts will be remembered as a proud veteran, a true patriot, a gifted entertainer, and a man whose quiet humor and love for his country left a lasting impression on all who knew him. His legacy of service, pride, and dedication will live on in the hearts of family, friends, and fellow veterans.

In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by his daughter, Lysa Danielle “Dani” Roberts.

His memory will forever be treasured by his children, Jason Ronald Roberts (Christi) of Kathleen, Georgia and Devin Roberts (Rani) of Warner Robins, Georgia; grandchildren, Harley Roberts, Hanna Hall (D.L.), Bret Roberts, Connor Brown, and Ansley Hinton (Evan); and sister, Brenda Roberts Brown.
