On the morning of Friday, June 5, 2026, Roy Lee Nicholson, 83, joined his Lord and Savior in heaven.
Mr. Nicholson was born on October 30, 1936, in Newton, Mississippi to the late Oren Leroy and Mamie Parker Nicholson. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and in the Civil Air Patrol. He retired from Robins Air Force Base where he took pride in his work as a mechanical engineer. A faithful member of Byron Baptist Church, he previously attended Green Acres Baptist Church where he was active in the bus ministry, bringing boys and girls to church each week. In his free time, he loved tinkering around with old cars. But his greatest joy in life came from time spent with his beloved family.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Margaret Mason Nicholson; his children, Amy Lynn Hester (Jeffrey) of Reynolds and Scott David Nicholson of Athens; and his grandchildren, Colin Rhys Hester and Rhyon Cade Hester along with a host of other extended family members and friends.
Visitation with Mr. Nicholson’s family will be Friday, June 12, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Byron Baptist Church. The funeral service celebrating his life will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at Byron Baptist Church. Following the service, Mr. Nicholson will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery in Warner Robins.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Roy L. Nicholson to American Diabetes Association (American Diabetes Association) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with these arrangements.
