Ruby Ellen Lashley Wilson

May 17, 1942 — September 22, 2025

Bonaire

Ruby Ellen Lashley Wilson met her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 22, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family and the peace of her enduring faith. Born on a Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m. on May 17, 1942, in Dr. Kay’s Clinic in Byron, Peach County, Georgia, Ruby was the eldest child of the late Jerry Moncrief Lashley, Sr. and Edith Perdue Lashley of Bonaire, Georgia. She was named after both of her grandmothers.

Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 47 years, Donald Mark Wilson; her daughter-in-law, Tonya Wilson; her sister, Glennis Hogg; her brothers, Bennett “Benny” Lashley and Harold Lashley; her brothers-in-law, Wayne Wilson and Jim Hopkins; and her sister-in-law, Sandy Martin.

She is survived by her devoted sons and their families: Scott and Gale Wilson of Elberton, Georgia, and Alan Wilson of Bonaire, Georgia. Ruby was a proud and loving grandmother to four grandsons: Bryant Wilson of Warner Robins; Hunter Wilson (Kailin) of Warner Robins; Jacob Wilson (Margaret) of Thomaston; and Jediah Wilson (Peyton) of Thomaston. Her happiness multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren: Braylee, Kolton, and Rett Wilson.

Ruby is also survived by her sister, Hazel Hopkins; her brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Jane Lashley; her brother-in-law, Bobby Hogg and sisters-in-law, Debbie Lashley and Ann Lashley; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

A 1960 graduate of Warner Robins High School, Ruby began her career shortly after graduation, living with her aunt in Macon. She worked in various roles, including for a cousin in the car finance business, Clark Memorials, and the Bibb County Department of Family and Children Services. From 1965 to 1977, Ruby dedicated herself to raising her children as a homemaker. Once her youngest son entered school, she rejoined the workforce, earning her real estate license and serving in administrative roles in psychiatry, financial services, and engineering. She concluded her professional life with 24 years of dedicated service to the City of Warner Robins Utilities Department. In 1984, she was honored as Medical Assistant of the Year, a testament to her commitment and compassion.

Ruby’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. Baptized in 1950 at Bonaire Baptist Church, she later became a long-time member of Oakland Baptist Church, where she served faithfully, including many years as a Sunday School teacher. In her later years, she worshiped at Southside Baptist Church.

Ruby found joy in the simple and profound: meeting people and developing relationships, sharing meals and conversations with friends, watching all children grow, cheering for the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldawgs, and loving her family with unwavering devotion. Her life was a testament to Proverbs 31. She embodied grace, perseverance, and faithfulness. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and all who loved her.
