Emma Ruth Cowan Knight, 88, passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, May 11, 2017.
Mrs. Knight was born on June 25, 1928, in Cookeville, Tennessee, the youngest of sixteen children to the late Wade Hampton and Willie Young Cowan. She retired from the Keebler Cookie Company in Macon and was a proud volunteer for the American Red Cross. Mrs. Knight had many hobbies including gardening, traveling, fishing, and camping, but her number one priority was always taking care of her household and loving her family. She was preceded in death by her adoring husband of 45 years, Lemuel Joseph Knight; her daughter, Sue Dayvolt; and fourteen siblings.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving children, Michael Joseph Knight of Warner Robins, Terry Douglas Knight (Debbie) of Warner Robins, and Penny Lynn Knight Carruth of Bonaire; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; her sister, Odean Cowan Knight of Soddy Daisy, TN; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with Mrs. Knight's family will be Monday, May 15, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with the Reverend David Miller officiating. Following the service, Mrs. Knight will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
