Ruth Louise Fitz was born July 29, 1926 to David and Clare (Hutchison) Fitz in Ames, Iowa and lived there until her marriage. In 1947, Ruth married Jack Peck, her high school sweetheart and a WWII veteran. She and Jack raised their four children in Aurora, CO; Lancaster, CA; St. Charles, MO; and Warner Robins, GA. She enjoyed planning and organizing, and she used these skills at several office jobs including church secretary. Most of all, Ruth loved being a wife and mother and providing a happy home for her family.
Ruth was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and she especially enjoyed her Asbury Sunday School class. She volunteered with her children's school functions, sports activities, and scouting.
Ruth loved helping people, and she was the glue to her Briardale neighbors, organizing picnics, showers, and even rides for a neighbor who was on dialysis. She was also the glue to the Peck family. She will be missed by so many.
Ruth is survived by her children--David (Peggy), Doug (Tommie), Bill, and Debbie (David Bessinger). Also left to cherish her memory are her grandson Dan (Brooke and great grandson Jack Brooker) and granddaughters, Drew and Dara Bessinger. Mrs. Peck is also survived by her only brother, Bob (Mary) Fitz (Ames, IA) and by Jack's siblings Dorothy McWilliams (Cherry Valley, CA) and Tom Peck (Sierra Vista, AZ) as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Jack Peck, a newborn son, Baby Boy Peck, and her parents. In lieu of flowers, Ruth's family would be honored with donations to Trinity United Methodist Church's building fund.
