Sammie Lee Allen, 80, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2026.
Sammie was born on June 17, 1945, in Kathleen, Georgia, to the late Sam and Hattie Mae Allen.
Sammie’s life revolved around family, service, and community. He was a lifelong truck driver, including 33 years with Roadway Express, and even earned the distinguished title “Million Miler,” an honor reserved for veterans of the road. He was also a proud member of the Teamsters Union.
A devoted family man, Sammie was married to the love of his life, Dianne Allen, for 57 wonderful years. They built a strong and loving family together that remained the center of his world. He showed the same devotion to his church family, proudly serving at New Smyrna Baptist Church as a deacon and chairman of the deacon board.
Outside of work, Sammie enjoyed fishing, sports cars, and spending time with friends over coffee at Waffle House. In his spare time, he also owned and operated Allen Pallet LLC. One of his greatest passions was his cherished 1967 Chevy Chevelle, which he bought new and still owned until his passing.
Sammie will be remembered for his kindness, strong work ethic, unwavering faith, and the joy he found in simple moments spent with the people he loved.
In addition to his parents, Sammie was preceded in death by his brother, Ike Lee Allen.
His memory will forever be cherished by his wife, Diane Allen; his children, Onita Jackson (Kenneth), Chassie Allen (Schniter), and LaTanya Allen-Ashley (Maurice); his grandchildren, LeQunda, Quartez, Kenneth, Quentin, Lequita, Ken’yatia, Martavious, JaVorris, Kionda, Brionda, Tiyannah, and Tionne; his great grandkids, Destiny, Desmond, Chance, Chase, Harmonii, Messiah, Loyalty, Faith, Quartney, Ja’Siah, Amir, and Zayden; his great granddaughter, Eliani; his sisters, Rosa Lee Stokeling and Susie Mae Hicky; and his brothers-in-law JC Dinkins and Sammie Dinkins.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May, 16, 2026, At New Smyrna Baptist Church. Afterward, Sammie will be laid to rest at New Smyrna Baptist Church.
