Sara Nell Smith

Late in the evening of Friday, April 20, 2018, Sara Nell Smith, 78, passed away at her home.

Nell was born on May 10, 1939 in Crawfordville, Georgia to the late Benjamin and Carrie Carter Brooks. As a loving and devoted homemaker, her family was always her highest priority. Nell lived most of her life in Warner Robins where she loved playing and coaching softball for many years. She enjoyed visiting several local nursing homes where she would sing and play the guitar for the residents. Nell had a sweet and giving spirit that would always brighten someone’s day.

Her beloved husband, Homer, and brothers, William Brooks, Robert Brooks, John Brooks, and Lloyd Brooks, preceded her in death.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Ricky Smith (Kim) of Warner Robins, Debra Lucas (Randall) of Ft. Valley, Tina Orr (Michael) of Kathleen; grandchildren, Lindsay, Zach (Heaven), and Nicholas; great-granddaughter, Lily Kate, and siblings, Dorothy Crippen of Seneca, South Carolina, Virginia Childs of Hartwell, Georgia, and Annette Ripplinger (Donovan) of Seneca, South Carolina.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Following the service, Nell will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
