Willis Lintz, 87, passed away on the morning of Saturday, March 18, 2017.
Born in Greeneville, Tennessee, Willis was the son of the late William James and Glenna Ottinger Lintz. He was a proud 20-year United States Navy Veteran who served his country as a submariner and "C.O.B." (Chief of the Boat) during the Cold War, Korean War, Vietnam War, and Cuban Missile Crisis. Willis retired from the Navy with the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer.
Following his military career, Willis went on to retire as an electrical supervisor from Miami-Dade Water/Sewer Authority and from the Florida State University Department of education as an instructor in the vocational program. He was a resident of Centerville for the past 25 years. Willis' work ethic, determination, and love for his family will forever be treasured by his wife, sons, grandchildren, and all who knew him.
He leaves his memory behind with his devoted wife of 60 years, Maria G. Lintz of Centerville; sons, Jeffrey Lintz (Beverly) of Warner Robins, David Lintz (Angela) of Macon, and Jason Lintz of Centerville; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Lintz Residence on Saturday, March 25th from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Willis J. Lintz to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
