Woody G. Hudgens, Jr., 45, entered into rest on June 9, 2011.
Woody was born on May 8, 1966 in Macon, Georgia. He was a 1984 graduate of Gilead Christian Academy, a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Police and Georgia Tactical Officer's Association. Woody served seventeen years at the Warner Robins Police Department as a member of the S.W.A.T. team and as a bicycle officer before joining the Centerville Police Department three years ago. In Centerville, he worked as a patrol sergeant, a bicycle officer, and a certified police instructor with a specialization in defensive tactics. Woody loved his church, his family, and his community. A cyclist, he rode his bicycle across the state of Georgia for six years in a row, raising funds for the Special Olympics. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
His memory will forever be treasured by his wife, Beverly Jo Couture Hudgens, Davenport, Florida; parents, Woodfin G. Hudgens, Sr., and Joanne Hudson Hudgens, Byron, Georgia; children, Erica Hudgens (Jonathan Keene), Macon, Georgia; Jacob Hudgens, Kathleen, Georgia; step children, Corporal Derek Copsey, Kathleen, Georgia; Ryan Ernst, Heather "Lil Bit" Ernst, both of Davenport, Florida; sister, Brenda Tucker, Lizella, Georgia; nephews, Shane and Danny Tucker, Lizella, Georgia; and so many other loving family members and friends.
