Colin Douglas McClay, 78, of Perry, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025. Born on May 16, 1947, in Pensacola, Florida, Colin lived a life marked by service, faith, and adventure.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Colin dedicated 20 years of honorable service to his country, including a tour in Vietnam. During his time in the Army, he served as a computer analyst, where his analytical mind, technical skill, and attention to detail played a vital role in supporting military operations. His courage, discipline, and dedication to his fellow soldiers defined much of his life and inspired all who knew him.
Colin was also deeply devoted to his faith and was an active member of his Seventh-day Adventist church, where he found joy in fellowship and service to others.
Outside of work and church, Colin loved the great outdoors. He found peace and excitement in hiking, bicycling, and white-water rafting—always eager for the next adventure and the beauty of nature.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 17 years, Vanessa McClay; brother, Bruce McClay (Mary) of Washington; nephew, Doug McClay; niece, Johanna Bjork; and other extended family.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.
