Sheila Ellis Matthews, 72, of Macon, Georgia, leaves behind a legacy built on love. She was known for her big heart and sincere empathy. She loved everyone she met and had a soft spot for anyone down on their luck.
Music was her heartbeat. She would snap her fingers (always using her ring finger) as she sang and danced. Like her mother, she played piano by ear. If there was music playing, she was alive in it.
For over forty-six years, she was a devoted wife to her true soul mate, Duncan. And while some people chase careers, social groups, or accolades, she would tell you her greatest accomplishment was her children. She dedicated her life to loving, caring for, and providing for her husband, Duncan; her daughter and best friend, Amanda; and her son and pride, Adam. That was her purpose and her joy.
She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband, Duncan Matthews; daughter, Amanda Ingle (David); son, Adam Matthews (Eva); daughter, Nicci Jordan; son, Roger Merritt (Allison); grandchildren, Corbin Horne (Blake), Carley Ingle, Cohen Ingle (Mackenzie Coussons), Brae McBryde (Cam), Nic Jordan, Brooks Merritt, and Eli Merritt; great-grandchildren, Briggs Horne, Tatum Horne, Beckham McBryde, and Banks McBryde; and brother, Wayne Ellis, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews, all carrying the love she spent a lifetime giving.
Sheila was preceded in death by her beloved mother and father, Mr. Otha C. Ellis and Mrs. Lillian B. Ellis. We find comfort knowing she is now at peace, reunited with those who went before her, and resting in the promise of eternal life.
