Sheryl Ann Rainey

December 31, 1960 — December 10, 2020

A loving wife, sister, and friend, Sheryl Ann Rainey, 59, passed away at her residence on Thursday, December 10, 2020.

The daughter of the late Robert William and Shirley Ethel (Jones) Laidlaw, Sheryl was born on December 31, 1960, in Frankfurt, Germany. She worked as a Customer Service Representative for several years at Cox Communications before her retirement. In her golden years, Sheryl never grew weary and was full of energy. She enjoyed being an active and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony that she enjoyed sharing with anyone who had ears to hear. She also enjoyed studying genealogy and tracing her roots. In the little time that Sheryl was not busy with her church or studying her ancestors, she loved settling in and watching classic movies. Her favorite movie was Spencer’s Mountain, a 1963 drama starring Clay Spencer and Sheryl’s favorite actress, Maureen O’Hara. She was a big fan of graceful and elegant ladies from eras of the past. Most of all, Sheryl was passionate about her family. The generous and gracious Sheryl Ann Rainey will be deeply missed by all of those who were blessed enough to know and love her.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Dennis E. Rainey; and sister, Ronda Bonner preceded Sheryl in death.

Her brothers, Tommy Laidlaw (Sheron) and Pete Laidlaw (Alicia); brother-in-law, Havis Bonner; and a host of many beloved family members will lovingly remember her.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 12, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Rainey will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. Afterward, Mrs. Rainey will be laid to rest in the Magnolia Park Mausoleum.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with these arrangements.
