Shirley Barwick

Shirley Barwick, a beloved Georgia native, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the age of 84. Born on November 28, 1939, in Vaughn, Georgia, Shirley was the daughter of the late Hugh and Addie Duffee Vining.

Affectionately known as "Nana," Shirley called Central Georgia home since the 1970s. She worked in the childcare business for more than forty years and was the owner and director of Petite Manor. Her commitment to fostering the growth and well-being of the young lives under her care earned her the admiration and gratitude of countless families.

Her love for others was evident in every aspect of her life. Shirley's devotion to her own family was beyond compare and her home was a haven of love, laughter, and support.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Wiley Barwick; brothers, Leroy and Lin Vining; sisters, Peggy Colvin and Marcia Hall.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Byron Morgan (Robin) of Warner Robins, Dawn Martin of Byron, Darien Morgan (Beverly) of Byron, and Chris Morgan (Mathew) of Austell, Georgia; grandchildren, Faith Sandoval (Daniel), Kayla Williams (Rodney), Kirk Martin (Amy), Dustin Morgan (Gabrielle), Bradley Morgan (Michael), Collin Morgan (Dana), Dillon Morgan (Bethany), Mason Morgan (Macey), and Aaron Morgan (Kaitlyn); as well as nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, December 22, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.  A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home.  Afterward, Shirley Barwick will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens. As a tribute to Shirley, please consider wearing brightly colored clothing.
