Shirley Pharr Raynor

April 13, 1934 — October 24, 2015

Shirley Pharr Raynor went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 24, 2015. She was a resident of Warner Robins for 40 years and a native of Thomaston, Georgia.

A retired attorney, Shirley was well-respected both in and out of the courtroom. In addition to practicing law, Shirley served as Public Defender for the City of Warner Robins and also served as a Municipal Court Judge for the city of Warner Robins in the early days of her career. She graduated from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in Macon, after having studied law at the University of Oxford in Oxford, England.

Prior to attending law school, Shirley graduated from North Georgia College with a degree in biology. During her time at NGC, she was active in many social and philanthropic organizations. With her outgoing personality and southern charm, it's easy to understand how she was voted "Miss North Georgia College" her senior year.

After moving to Warner Robins in 1972, Shirley became involved in a variety of volunteer initiatives, serving as president of the Peachbelt Medical Auxillary and Vice President of the Warner Robins Little Theatre. She appeared in many theatrical productions in the middle Georgia area, using the stage name "Shannon Christer".

Among her many talents, Shirley was an artist and horticulturist. Several of her oil paintings were awarded blue ribbons at regional and state level art shows. Her roses, too, were consistently among the judges favorites often winning 'best in show' at local events.

Shirley was a deeply spiritual person, and a long-time member of Christ United Methodist Church, where she was a Women's Sunday School teacher. Her heart for service led her to do volunteer projects both small and large, from being a Pink Lady at Houston Medical Center to going on a humanitarian mission trip to Africa.

Her memory will be forever treasured by her children, Lori Raynor, Gwynne Raynor, Kenley Raynor Blotner (Gregg) and Jeremy Raynor, and by her grandsons, Brennen and Kellen Blotner. She is preceded in death by her parents, William Adolphus Pharr and Annie Grace Pharr, both of Thomaston.

The family will receive visitors at McCullough Funeral Home on Tuesday October 27th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church on Wednesday, October 28th at 1:00 p.m. with The Rev. Dr. Matthew D. Stewart officiating. Shirley will be laid to rest in Thomaston, Georgia at Upson Memorial Gardens at 4:00 p.m. following the service.

In honor of Shirley's memory, memorial donations may be made to The Christ United Methodist Church Apportionment Fund, 511 Russell Parkway, Warner Robins, GA 31088, 478-923-2867.
