Sister de Lourdes Keane P.B.V.M

Sister de Lourdes Keane P.B.V.M, beloved teacher and principal of Sacred Heart Catholic School, Warner Robins, died peacefully on October 18, 2023, in Ireland at the age of 89. Sister de Lourdes taught in several U.S. Catholic schools with her longest stay at Sacred Heart School in the 80s and 90s.

A true servant leader, Sister strived to offer a solid, strong education and a variety of extra activities that would develop the talents and interests of her students. She enlisted the aid of parents and friends as she organized teams in swimming, soccer, tennis, golf, bowling, and basketball. Her love of music led her to create a school choir, Irish dance group, and marching band that participated in many parades including Savannah's St. Patrick's parade and the Warner Robins and Macon Christmas parades. In addition, the eighth graders each year performed a Shakespearean play. All truly miracles for such a small school! After retirement to the convent in Ireland, Sister passionately continued service as she volunteered at Cork Simon Community which offers shelter, clothing, food, and job training to the homeless.

Two memorial Masses will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 300 South Davis Drive on November 15: school Mass at 9:00 a.m. and parish wide memorial Mass at 5:30 p.m. for all recent deceased members of the church.
