Steve Bernell Harkins

Steve Bernell Harkins, 67, walked into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on the morning of Sunday, January 24, 2016.

Born on October 4, 1948 in Rome, Georgia, Steve was the only son of the late Bernell T. and Retha Mae Oakes Harkins. He graduated from Jacksonville State University with a four year degree and retired from Cunningham Lindsey, formerly GAB Robins North America, Inc. in the past few years. Mr. Harkins was an avid Alabama Football fan (Roll Tide!), enjoyed shooting pool and grilling out with family and friends. Steve loved having a good time, but built his life around his family and his deep love, strength and integrity will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Harkins was preceded in death by his son, David Keith Harkins.

Steve's memory will forever be treasured by his devoted wife of 44 years, Elaine Harkins, children, Jennifer Cater (Mike), Steven Harkins, and Amie Jones (Troy), all of Bonaire; grandchildren, Chyna Harkins, Mikayla and Kyleigh Cater, and Anistyn Jones; aunt, Ophelia Barnes; and beloved pet, "Miss Lillie."

A memorial gathering will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2016 at McCullough Funeral Home. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Steve to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Rd., Macon, GA 31210 or to PruittHealth Hospice, 6060 Lakeside Commons Dr., Macon, GA 31210.
