Steven Glenn Smith, a man who embraced life with humor, generosity, and an unmistakable love for the people around him, entered into eternal rest on August 17, 2026.

Steven was born on July 3, 1957, in Savannah, Georgia, to the late Ed and Joann Barner Smith. He spent his early years in Orlando, Florida, before moving to Warner Robins, Georgia, as a teenager. He attended Warner Robins High School, graduating with the Class of 1975.

Following high school, Steven attended the University of Georgia, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering. His time in Athens gave him more than a degree—it sparked a lifelong devotion to the Georgia Bulldogs. Steven was a Dawg through and through. He bled red and black. Saturdays in the fall were special, and cheering on his beloved Dawgs was never simply watching a football game—it was an event. Through winning seasons and disappointing ones, Steven remained loyal. His love for Athens, the University of Georgia, and the Bulldogs became part of who he was, and few things could bring out his enthusiasm quite like a Georgia game.

After college, Steven began his professional career with Coors in Colorado. He later returned to Georgia and worked for Wonderlodge in Fort Valley before beginning what would become a 30-year career in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base. Steven served as an engineer at the base until his retirement, completing a career marked by dedication, intelligence, and hard work.

Retirement opened a wonderful new chapter in Steven’s life, one centered largely around one of his greatest joys—his granddaughter. He treasured the time they spent together and delighted in sharing the things he loved with her. Whether he was teaching her soccer and other sports, introducing her to music and movies, or sitting down together for a board game, Steven made their time together meaningful. He wasn't simply her grandfather; he was her teacher, playmate, encourager, and friend.

Steven had an enthusiasm for life that could be seen in his many interests. He loved golf, NASCAR, hunting, fishing, bowling, and gardening. He enjoyed being outdoors, staying active, having fun, and, most of all, sharing those experiences with others.

To know Steven was to know a man who truly loved people. He never met a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with just about anyone and had a wonderful way of making people feel comfortable and welcome. His great sense of humor was one of his trademarks, and laughter seemed to follow wherever he went.

Yet behind that humor was a man of remarkable emotional strength, humility, and wisdom. Steven possessed the rare gift of knowing what to say and, perhaps more importantly, when to say it. He could make you laugh when you needed laughter, offer wisdom when you needed direction, and simply be there when words weren't necessary. He was generous with what he had, generous with his time, and generous with his love.

Above everything else, Steven was devoted to his family. He lovingly cared for his wife, Aida, and was a devoted father to their daughter, Kris. His family was at the center of his world, and there was never any question about how deeply he loved them. He showed that love not only in words, but in the countless everyday ways he cared for, supported, protected, and stood beside them.

His memory will forever be treasured by his beloved wife, Aida Smith; daughter, Kris Davis; granddaughter, Sophia Davis; brother, Timothy Smith (Kate); and one niece, one nephew, and many cousins.

A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home, with a memorial service immediately following in the chapel. Afterward, Steven will be laid to rest privately.
