Steven Edward Thompson went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 24, 2026.
Steve was born on January 30, 1982, in Tampa, Florida, into a loving family. Steve was married to the love of his life, Jessica Miller for nearly 25 years. Together they built a beautiful life and were blessed with their cherished daughter, Isla, who was the light of his world. Steve was a devoted husband and proud father, always placing his family at the center of his heart.
From a young age, Steve’s passion was to become a pilot, a calling inspired by his grandfather, James Marshall, who grounded him in the unwavering belief that all things are possible through Christ. Steve pursued his lifelong dream of becoming a pilot and faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel through dedication, perseverance and strong leadership. He was respected by his fellow service members and was affectionately known as “SteveO” among his friends and companions.
Later in life, united by their shared love of cars and racing, Steve, his brother Matthew, and friends traveled to tracks across the country where they raced together, creating lasting memories marked by laughter and brotherhood.
Steve had a rare gift for friendship. He loved his friends like family, loyal, steadfast and always present. Whether through a phone call, a shared story, or simply showing up when it mattered most, Steve made the people in his life feel valued and seen. One of his greatest joys was gathering with his friends and their families around the grill, perfecting his cooking skills while creating a place where everyone felt welcome.
Steve leaves behind his loving wife, Jessica; his daughter, Isla; his brother, Matthew (Sarah); his mother, Sally (Marshall); his father, Edward; his in-laws, Debbie and James Miller; his sister-in-law, Shannon; his niece, Scarlett; his nephew, Matthew; and his grandmother, Shirley Marshall. He will also be deeply missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and extended family.
Though our hearts grieve, we take comfort in knowing that Christ held Steve under His wings, for as Psalm 91:4 reminds us, “He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge.” We trust in the promise of Psalm 30:5: “Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy cometh in the morning.
Everyone is welcome to the memorial service which will be held at Second Baptist Church, 2504 Moody Road, Warner Robins, GA 31088, on Thursday, March 5, at 11:00 a.m. Interment services will be held at Lane Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren, Ohio for immediate friends and family.
Steve’s faith, love, strength and unwavering devotion to his family, friends, and country will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
