Suzanne "Sue" Halcomb

March 28, 1955 — August 25, 2023

Suzanne “Sue” Halcomb passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023, at the age of 68.

Born on March 28, 1955, in Ithaca, New York, Sue grew up surrounded by the beauty of upstate New York. She graduated in 1974 from Ithaca High School. Sue pursued her passion for cosmetology and obtained her license, embarking on a career that allowed her to use her talents to uplift others.

A pivotal turn came when she joined the United States Air Force, where Sue not only served her country but also found the love of her life, Roy Dale Halcomb, whom she married. Following her 20 years of service, Sue and Roy settled in Warner Robins, where they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams.

Sue's dedication and willingness to put others before herself were evident as she embraced a new career with the Warner Robins Parole Office. She served 25-years as the state probation administrative assistant before retiring. Sue embodied compassion and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of those she served.

In her spare time, Sue loved to cook for others; she constantly searched for new recipes to create! Sue also had a love for animals that was unwavering, and treated her five fur babies like her own children. After her husband, Roy, passed away Sue’s life revolved around Walmart, PetSmart, and Chewy.com orders. With an eye for creativity, several family and friends became recipients of prized possessions, while Sue crocheted with love.

She was fiercely independent and true to her values. One always knew where they stood with Sue and how she felt. She never held anything back and didn’t mind telling you so. A natural born narrator, she loved to share her adventures, including deployments, and the ups and downs of her life after the military. Sue was feisty and loved a good laugh! Her favorite cartoons were the old Looney Tunes, especially Bugs Bunny. Her family found comfort because funny stuff made her happy, as did several animal documentaries. Sue also knew many facts about the wars and battles that involved America, her knowledge was extensive and impressive.

In addition to her husband, Roy, of whom she missed him and spoke often of, Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth, and Helen Emery; sister, Barbara Dutton; and her parents-in-law, Roy and Ethel Halcomb.

She is survived by two sisters, Deborah (Wayne) Dutton and Janet (George) Stevens, both of upstate New York; as well as her in-laws, Barbara Bloomer, Debbie Fika, Penny Jones; and several nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved as her own.

The funeral service honoring Sue’s life will be held at the Parkway Memorial Gardens Chapel on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior.
