Sybil Mitchell, 92, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2013.
Mrs. Mitchell was born on September 26, 1920, in Bethlehem, Georgia. From her origins in rural Georgia, she went on to live in Atlanta where she worked for over thirty years as an administrative assistant at the Georgia Department of Human Resources. After retiring, she served many years as a volunteer with the Warm Springs Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Mitchell had a smile for everyone, whether friend or stranger, whatever their background or walk of life. She will always be remembered with love by everyone who had the honor and good fortune to know her during her long and gracious life. Her love of life was matched by her strength of character, which will be cherished in memory forever by her friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis L. Mitchell, and parents, Edward and Lula McDaniel, as well as by four siblings whom she loved dearly.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Jennings (Harry) of Warner Robins; grandchildren Harry Jennings, III (Amber) of Greensberg, Pennsylvania, David Jennings of Warner Robins, and Nancy Jennings-Aburto of Rome, Italy; and great grandchildren Nancy Tift Aburto and Louis Aburto.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 25, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home and Chapel, in Thomaston, Georgia, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Southview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations to Roosevelt Warm Springs Development Fund (706-655-5008).
