Thomas Carl "T.C." Brown, Sr.

June 1, 1950 — November 27, 2022

Thomas C. Brown, Sr., born on June 1, 1950, in Hillsboro, AL to Ollis L. Brown and Willie Esther Jarmon Brown, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at the age of 72.

When Thomas was five months old, his family moved to Spring City, TN where he grew up and attended school. Growing up, he developed a love for sports and music and played the organ and piano. The oldest sibling out of seven children in the house, Thomas developed leadership skills early in life. He started a singing group in the family where he played the organ while his siblings sang and danced. Additionally, Thomas played football and basketball throughout high school, which resulted in his being chosen as Most Athletic for his senior class at Spring City High.

After high school, Thomas was recruited by the University of Maryland for his amazing playing ability and was given a basketball scholarship. Unfortunately, he experienced a knee injury that ended his pro basketball dream. Thomas joined the United States Air Force where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant while serving his country for six years.

Following his military career, Thomas lived in several places to include Victorville, CA, Las Vegas, NV, and then moved to Valdosta, GA to be close to his mother who had recently relocated there. Several years later, Thomas moved back to Spring City, TN. He went on to work for Leggett and Platt Co., a company that he would eventually retire from. Shortly after joining the company, Thomas was offered and accepted the role of Plant Manager for a facility in Dublin, GA. He moved to Dublin and managed the Leggett and Platt facility until his retirement in 2014.

In Dublin, Thomas met and ultimately married Mary Robinson Brown on March 14, 1995. He was a loving and devoted husband until his death. Also devout in his faith in Christ, Thomas enjoyed serving as a member of Warner Robins church of Christ; he and Mary were baptized on the same day.

Thomas was a huge supporter of the University of Tennessee and loved nothing more than watching his beloved Vols play a basketball or football game. Thomas knew his sports! He could tell you more about your favorite sports team than you could! He was also a three-time Fantasy Football champion. He might win again this season too! His family football league will definitely miss him, but winning just got a little bit easier. Thomas was hard to beat!

He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children Elizabeth Darlene Bridgeman Brown, his father, Ollis L. Brown; and two brothers, Kenneth D. Brown and Terry W. Brown.

Thomas leaves his memory to be cherished by: his wife, Mary Brown; children, Crystal R. Brown, Thomas C. Brown Jr (Anea), Letricia D. Brown Brandenburg (Maverick) and adopted daughter Joy Lewis Turnley (Titus); stepchildren, Yolanda Harris (Kevin) and Roberta Gerald; mother, Willie Esther Brown; siblings, Joyce Jackson (Willie B.), James Brown, Wallace Brown (Shandra), Mary Brown McKinney (Randolph) and Jerry Dwight Brown (Teresa); along with many loving grandchildren, three aunts, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation with Thomas' family will be on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.  A funeral service will take place on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Warner Robins church of Christ with Daniel Stearsman officiating.  Thomas will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery following the service.
