Tom H. Underwood, Sr., 89, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2007.
Mr. Underwood was born on June 20, 1918 in Bainbridge, Georgia. A member of the first paratrooper unit in the United States Military, he proudly retired from the United States Army serving during WWII, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam era. After his military retirement, he went to work in civil service at Moody Air Force Base and eventually retired from civil service at Robins Air Force Base where he worked as the Golf Course Marshall. He was also the owner of Underwood Electrical in Quitman, Georgia. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, and adored animals. In addition to his many accomplishments, he truly loved his family and enjoyed time spent with them. He left a legacy his children are proud to carry on. His beloved wife, Irene Taylor Underwood, preceded him in death.
He will be missed by his children and their wives, Tom H. Underwood, Jr. and Kandace, Lizella; John H. Underwood, Sr. and Brenda, Fort Valley; three grandchildren, Mindy Underwood, Tom H. Underwood, III, (Tracy), John Underwood, Jr. (Lisa), and four great grandchildren, Quentin, Jennifer, Abigail, and Stephany.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2007 in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
