Tommy Matt Skender

Tommy Matt Skender was taken into the arms of Jesus on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon. He was 75 years old.

The son of the late Matt Thomas Skender and Dixie Nadine Huffstetler Skender, Tommy was born in Lake Village, Arkansas. After high school, he joined the United States Army. Following his service to the country, he spent most of his life in the construction industry as a general foreman for Local 53. He later became a project superintendent for various construction firms. To say Tommy was a fan of LSU and New Orleans Saints was an understatement. Geaux Tigers and Who Dat were phrases commonly heard in Tommy’s house. He adored his family and would do anything for his friends.

Those left to treasure his memory include his wife of 56 years, Elaine Brown Skender; sons, Mitchell Skender of Byron and Jeffery Skender (Michelle) of Butler; grandchildren, Julie Guest (Trey), Bayou Skender (Sadi), and Carley Skender; great grandchildren, Kayden, Grayer, Liam, and Lawson; brother, Jerry Skender of Hamburg, Arkansas; nephew, Justin Skender (Carrie); and great nephew, Bowen Skender.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 8, 2021 at McCullough Funeral Home. Tommy’s funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at The Sanctuary of Macon. He will be laid to rest at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
