Jim Florig, age 80, passed into the hands of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 8, 2019.
Born on May 17, 1939 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Jim was the only child of the late Willis Yeager and Margaret Sanders Florig. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and retired with 22 years of dedicated service. Subsequent to his military retirement, Jim worked at Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville for 26 years both in maintenance and biotech. He attended Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, and bowling and square dancing were his favorite pastimes.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia Ann Florig of Warner Robins; children, James W. Florig II (Diane) of Warner Robins, Helen M. Pace (David) of Byron, Cindy K. Jones (Raye) of Bonaire, and Tammy L. Evans (Gary) of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, David Allen Pace, Jr., Alexandria Kay Pace, Stevie Jones, Jorie Jones, and Jenna Evans; and numerous great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Jim will be laid to rest in a graveside memorial service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Pastor David Brighton will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Jim Florig to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
