Born on February 24, 1949, in Durand, Georgia, Roy was the son of the late Frank and Lily Mae Crowder. A man of integrity and dedication, Roy served his country with honor in the United States Air Force for 21 years, retiring with the rank of Technical Sergeant. He was an active member of the Airman's Club. After his Air Force retirement, Roy later worked as a truck driver for Timberlake.

Among his many passions, Roy found joy in fishing, tinkering with cars, and the artistry of grilling and smoking tasteful meals. A fan of jazz music and movies, he could often be found immersed in the melodies of his favorite tunes or captivated by the narratives unfolding on the silver screen.

Above all else, Roy treasured the moments spent with his cherished family, especially his adoring grandchildren. His legacy of love and cherished memories will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his four sisters and three brothers.
