June 1, 1939 — August 12, 2018

Thomas Allen Workman, 79, went to be with his Lord and Savior on the afternoon of Sunday, August 12, 2018.

Tom was born on June 1, 1939 in Litwar, West Virginia to the late Ballard C. and Linda Addair Workman. He grew up in the mountains of West Virginia where he developed a deep admiration for mountain climbing with his brothers and friends. In February of 1957, Thomas bravely served his country in the United States Marines Corps where he served for 4 years. He later joined the United States Air Force and retired with the rank of Tech Sergeant in July of 1975. During his time in the military, he had two daughters, Debbie Dee Carthen and Sandra Dee Camp whom he loved dearly. He enjoyed all of the memories spent with his daughters throughout the years. He loved all of his siblings and he enjoyed all of the memories with each one.

Subsequent to his military career, Tom worked in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base for 22 years before retiring. It was while working on base, that he grew a love for airplanes. In 1981, the Museum of Aviation was established and Tom was proud to be instrumental in placing some of their first airplanes. He loved working at Robins Air Force Base where he made many friends.

Tom enjoyed coaching baseball, basketball, and football with the Warner Robins Recreation Department and Central Fellowship Academy. He was also an avid golf fan, loved to vacation and travel, and was a die-hard West Virginia Mountaineers and Florida State Seminoles fan.

Tom gave his life to Jesus Christ in 1976. His life was forever changed and he faithfully and whole-heartedly served the Lord. He loved church and attended many Baptist churches in his later years. In 1984, Tom met his lovely wife, Elisa Workman whom he was married to for 34 years. He loved his wife with all of this heart and enjoyed every single memory they made in life. In 1985, they had a son, Tony whom he dearly loved. He was a huge supporter of his son’s (Tony Workman) ministry throughout the year. His willingness to help others and uncanny ability to make a friend wherever he went will always be remembered by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Betty Lester, Liz Lockhart, and Billy Workman.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 34 years, Janet E. Workman and children, Debbie Dee Carthen, Sandra Dee Camp, and Rev. Tony Workman, all of Warner Robins; five grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brothers, David Workman of Peachtree City and Roger Workman (Carla) of Montana; father-in-law, Melvin Ragans of Quitman, Georgia; and several adoring nieces and nephews.
