On the morning of Monday, February 26, 2018, Vera Handley passed away peacefully, she was 79 years old.
Vera was born on June 23, 1938 in Cordele, Georgia to the late Walter and Celia Watson Addison. She was a devoted military wife, moving to many different locations throughout the United States and to Africa with her husband’s career in the Air Force. Vera worked the night shift for over 20 years at Krystal’s to be able to stay home during the day with her children. As a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, her family was always her highest priority.
Her Husband, Grover Cleveland Handley, Jr., daughter, Gail Carroll, and twin baby girls, as well as her siblings, preceded her in death.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Mike Handley (Brandi) of Bonaire, Merle Handley of Warner Robins, Kay Jones (Mark) of Eatonton; grandchildren, Rueben, Michelle, Cali, Ford, Matt, Whitney; 7 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Adrian Carroll of Byron, siblings, Diane Gearin of Braselton, Georgia, Dan Addison of Gainesville, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, March 2, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of McCullough. Mrs. Handley will be laid to rest in a private graveside service at Parkway Memorial Gardens.
