Victor Allen Godfrey, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the age of 69. Born on February 18, 1955, Victor lived a life filled with hard work, family, and a passion for helping others.
As the owner and operator of A+ Heating and Air, Godfrey Plumbing Heating and Air, and Godfrey Mechanical, Victor built a thriving career and completed countless contracts, leaving his expertise all over Robins Air Force Base, Fort Benning, Moody Air Force Base, Central State Hospital and Georgia College. His work ethic and dedication to quality were evident in every project he undertook.
Victor’s greatest joy was his family. He cherished spending time with loved ones and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Victor participated in drag racing on and probably off the strip, dirt and round track racing. He shared this passion with his father and brother, creating cherished memories on the racetrack. Victor also took to the sky in his ultra lights and raced mini go carts for a few years. He also worked alongside his father building many projects beginning in childhood. Together they built race cars, street cars, apartments, homes, and a houseboat which further strengthened their bond.
Victor was a man of many talents, often referred to as a “jack of all trades.” He could operate any kind of equipment and had a gift for fixing just about anything. Holidays and weekends at the lake were filled with joy as Victor taught his children to drive four-wheelers, cars, boats, and jet skis, creating memories that will be treasured forever. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Victor was preceded in death by his father, Charles Huey Godfrey, Jr.; siblings, Charles Godfrey, Keith Screws, Terry Peavy, and sister, Charesa Gandy.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 45 years, Kathy; daughters, Brandy Alford and husband Chris, Sonya Smith and husband, JD, and Ashley Nichols, and husband Kenneth; six grandchildren, Branden and Hope Alford, Sophie and David Smith, III, and Astrid and Karlie Nichols; mother, Betty Screws; and siblings, Gail Thompson and husband, Roy, Mariennis Flowers and husband Randy, Diane Hayes, and Ronald Peavy.
