Virgil Theodore Raffield, 73, entered into eternal rest on April 28, 2026.
Born on March 7, 1953, in Panama City, Florida, he was the son of the late Clifford and Frankie Laura Thomas Raffield. Raised with strong values and a deep sense of responsibility, Virgil carried those qualities with him throughout his life.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army, demonstrating dedication and honor during his time in service. Following his military career, Virgil continued his commitment to serving others through his work in civil service. He was employed as a supervisor at Robins Air Force Base, where he earned the respect of colleagues for his leadership, work ethic, and steady guidance. He remained in this role until his retirement.
Outside of his career, Virgil found his greatest happiness in the time he spent with his family. He was a devoted loved one who valued connection, loyalty, and togetherness. He also enjoyed the peaceful pastime of fishing, often finding relaxation and contentment by the water. In addition, he had a lifelong love of science fiction movies and television, a hobby that brought him much enjoyment and curiosity.
Virgil will be remembered for his service to his country, his years of dedicated work, and the quiet strength and kindness he shared with those around him. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Virgil was preceded in death by his wife, Kay Loveless Raffield; grandson, Donovan Bass; mother-in-law, Rita Delia Loveless; and brother, Eldon Clifford Raffield.
His memory will forever be treasured by his children, Kathy Raffield of Kinard, Florida, Amy Jackson of Kinard, Florida, Heather Turner of Macon, Georgia, Don (Priscilla) Raffield of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Cameron (Brayanna) Raffield of Milford, Indiana; grandchildren, Ashley Gates, Chad Gates, Bella Jackson, Tate Turner, Aubrie Turner, Ryan Raffield, and Kayden Raffield; great-grandson, Wesley Raffield; sister, Brenda Hanvey of Nauvoo, Alabama; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
