Wade Emory Elliott

Wade Emory Elliott, age 80, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born at Dr. Kay's Clinic in Byron, Georgia to Jack Sheram Elliott and Annelle Minchew Elliott, Wade was raised in the Avondale community of south Bibb County alongside his four siblings. He took immense pride in his heritage and upbringing there. A natural craftsman and lifelong hard worker, Wade began working at an early age alongside his father. It was later, while working at Bateman's peach packing shed, that he met the absolute love of his life, Brenda Faye Fields. On August 20, 1967, he and Brenda were united in marriage, beginning a beautiful partnership that spanned nearly six decades.

In 1968, Wade enlisted in the United States Army Reserve. Wade’s work ethic was unmatched. Over the years, he lent his skills as a welder to Transco and the Tumpane Company of Georgia, and later as a fuel delivery driver for the Standard Oil Company. In 1980, he found his true professional calling at Robins Air Force Base, working as a sheet metal mechanic on the C-130 aircraft. He retired in 2010 after 30 years of dedicated service. The job gave him more than just a career; it brought him lifelong friends who became extension of his family, including Cary and Linda Stokes.

Family was Wade’s greatest joy. He absolutely adored his children, Tim, born in 1973, and Emily, born in 1975. A deeply involved father, he spent countless hours playing with them and teaching his family how to be entirely self-sufficient. He passed down his passions for fishing, working on tractors, working on cars, and rebuilding engines—ensuring they always knew how to do things themselves. Wade had an extraordinary talent for taking things apart just to put them back together. As an excellent craftsman, there was nothing he could not build. His hands shaped a new room for their family home, wooden bowls, toy boxes, dune buggies, boats, and ice cream churns. Perhaps most memorably, he once built a kite large enough that he actually flew on it. He found his peace outdoors, whether he was blacksmithing, operating his sawmill, camping, or simply sharing a good bowl of ice cream or a plate of fried fish with the people he loved.

In 2016, Wade embraced his favorite new role as "Bear Bear" when his grandson, Fields, was born. Wade treasured every moment spent with him. A particularly priceless blessing came in 2020, when Tim, Carol, and Fields moved in with Brenda and Wade during a home renovation, creating beautiful, irreplaceable memories that the family will cherish forever.

Wade is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Fields Elliott; his son, Tim Elliott (Carol); his cherished grandson, Fields Elliott; and his siblings, Jack Elliott, Faye Tommey, Russ Elliott (Debra), and Lydia Holloman. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Emily Elliott, and his parents, Jack and Annelle Elliott.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Magnolia Park Cemetery. To honor Wade's memory, the family welcomes donations to the Alzheimer's Association in place of floral tributes.
