Wanda Lee Matheney, 84, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 27, 2026.

Wanda was born on September 14, 1942, in Cookeville, Tennessee to the late Earnest and Juanita Mills. She later married the love of her life, Harold Gene Matheney, with whom she spent many wonderful years raising their dear children.

Wanda was a proud member and past president of the Blythe Riding Club, where she enjoyed western barrel racing and pole bending. She was also extremely involved in Little League Baseball, serving a tenure on the board of directors for the Warner Robins Little League team. Most importantly, Wanda was a longtime member of Southside Baptist Church, where she lived and modeled her faith for many years.

Above all, Wanda was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her. Her years of faithful service and loving spirit leave behind a legacy that serves as a comfort for those she leaves behind.

In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded by her beloved husband, Harold Gene Matheney, and her son, Bruce Matheney.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Sonia Johnson (Frank) of Columbus, MS, Darlene Knight (Cole) of Marietta, GA, Steven C. Matheney (Tara Harris) of Macon, GA, and Alexander Al-marry of Marietta, GA; her nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren; her sisters, Teresa Leonard of Cookeville, TN and Mary Reva Buckner of Alabaster, AL; and many other extended loving family members.

Wanda will be laid to rest in a graveside service at Magnolia Park Cemetery on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
