Warner Robins

On the evening of Saturday, January 27th, 2024, Warren Atwood McDow, 79, entered into rest. Warren was born on January 26th, 1945, in Lancaster, South Carolina to the late Samuel Atwood and Doralyn Moseley McDow. He attended Lancaster High School where he graduated Salutatorian of his class. Warren graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1968 as an Industrial Engineer. Later that year, he married the love of his life, Rita Small McDow. Warren and Rita moved to Warner Robins, Georgia and started a family together.

Warren dedicated fourteen years to Robins Air Force Base working as an industrial engineer. He studied to become a Master Gardener and began working for the USDA Southeastern Research Laboratory in Byron, where he enjoyed tending and grafting peach trees. Gardening was not only a career for Warren, and it became his passion at home as well. He loved to propagate plants and tend to his greenhouses.

In his free time, Warren enjoyed maximizing efficiency. Whether it was tinkering with appliances, creating inventions to deal with household problems or finding better ways to care for his plants, he always had a project going to make things better. Warren was proud of his time at Georgia Tech and enjoyed following the Yellow Jackets.

His memory will forever be treasured by his adoring wife of fifty-five years, Rita McDow; sons, Christopher McDow (Danyelle) of Perry and Matthew McDow of Smyrna; grandchildren, Emmett McDow (Claire), Aidan McDow, Benjamin McDow, Samuel McDow, and Abby McDow.

At the family's request all services will be private.
