William D. "Dee" Henson, Jr., 74, entered into rest on Tuesday, August 10, 2010.
Mr. Henson was born on October 4, 1935, in Haynesville, Georgia. With great pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Navy and participated in the Korean Conflict. He then became part owner of Esso Gas Station on Highway 341 in Perry before working as an Electronics Supervisor in civil service. After retiring from Robins Air Force Base, he worked at Ace Hardware in Bonaire as a hardware specialist. He was a member and Deacon at Haynesville First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his son, David Henson; parents, William Dewey Henson, Sr., and Bessie Mae Haynes Henson; siblings, Donald Henson, Cecil Henson, Roy Henson and Tootsie Hardy.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of thirty-five years, Lucy Sutton Henson; children, Cheryl Grubbs (Charles), Warner Robins, Terri Lee French (Dwayne), Haynesville, Lenny Griffin (Beth), Hawkinsville, Sid Griffin (Yvonne), Bossier City, Louisiana, Teressa Hooper (Al), Haynesville, and Chuck Henson, Unadilla; grandchildren, Lauren, Austin, Hannah and Cooper French, Ray and Amy Griffin, Ashley Maney, Josie Startzel, William and Katherine Hooper; great-grandchild, Destiny Maney; siblings, Hazel Huff, Perry, Kathryn McClintic, Haynesville, Betty Adams, Haynesville, Lillian Williams, Warner Robins, Row Henson, Atlanta; and Dee's shadow, Deebo.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 12, 2010, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 13, 2010, at Haynesville First Baptist Church, Reverends Winfred Huff and David Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Haynesville First Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations to Haynesville First Baptist Church - But For The Grace Of God Ministry, P.O. Box 69, Clinchfield GA 31013.
