William Guthrie

William "Bill" Guthrie, 85, entered into rest on Thursday, March 26, 2009.

Mr. Guthrie was born on February 24, 1924 in Perry, Florida. With pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Navy and participated in World War II. He retired as an electrician at Continental Can Company. He attended First Christian Church and was a member of the United Steel Workers. His parents, William Henderson Guthrie, Sr., and Elzada Hampton, preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Joan Guthrie; children, William "Bill" (Vivian) Guthrie, III, Mt. Orab, Ohio, and Patti (Ken) Martin, Warner Robins; sisters, Mildred Forrest, Bellingham, Washington, and Ruth Sheheane, Tampa, Florida; grandchildren, Bethany and Jessica Martin, both Warner Robins; and step-grandchildren, Shawn Conner, Terry Conner and Brian Jones.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 29, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at First Christian Church, Perry. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at First Christian Church, Perry, Reverend Ron Nolen officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to First Christian Church-Building Fund, 2100 Macon Road, Perry GA 31069.
