William Keith Hayes, 73, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

Born on March 6, 1952, in Mobile, Alabama, Keith was the son of the late William Mosby Hayes and Marie Icard Hayes. He spent many dedicated years working as a Fabrication Technician for R.J. Reynold Tobacco before his well-earned retirement.

Known affectionately as “The Piddlerman,” Keith had a gift for fixing just about anything. His hands were always busy, and he could figure out a solution to any problem that came his way. Keith was clever, witty, and had a great sense of humor. He loved to laugh, especially at a good dad joke and enjoyed cutting up with family and friends. Keith also loved the outdoors, especially fishing.

More than anything, he took pride in caring for his loved ones. Keith taught his children the value of self-sufficiency, curiosity, and hard work, lessons they now pass down to their own children. He was deeply proud of his family, and his grandchildren held a special place in his heart.

To those who knew him, Keith was a mentor, a friend, and the steady leader of his family. His legacy of love, laughter, and ingenuity will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

In addition to his parents, Keith was preceded in death by his daughter, Chris Edge; grandchildren, Zack Houston and Deven Outlaw.

His memory will forever be treasured by his wife of 43 years, Barbara Jo Hayes of Byron; children, Julie Hayes, Mandy Outlaw (Arvin), Linda Moxley (Greg); grandchildren, Cameron Houston (Nomundari), Timothy Anderson (Alexis), Matthew Anderson, Caelan Outlaw (Zoe), grandchildren, Castiel Anderson, Aspen Shinhoster, Amy Houston; and siblings, Victor Hayes (Brenda), Mike Hayes (Robin), and Donna Clark; and pet dogs, “Zoe” and “Rusty.” Keith is also survived by a host of many other beloved extended family members and friends.

A memorial gathering with Keith’s friends and family will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A memorial service honoring his life will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. William Keith Hayes will be entombed in the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
