William J. “Billy” O’Herron, 83, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, June 8, 2026.

Mr. O’Herron was born on January 6, 1943, in Storm Lake, Iowa to the late Edward J. O’Herron and Bernice Graff Hassman. Although born in the Midwest, he lived most of his life in Warner Robins where he attended Warner Robins High School. After working in mattress manufacturing for a short time, he began a career as an aircraft mechanic on Robins Air Force Base from where he eventually retired.

Mr. O’Herron was a simple man who loved being outdoors. Whether he was fishing in a lake or stream, enjoying the sun at Fernandina Beach, or camping in the woods, he was most at home when he was outdoors. He was a long-time member of the Moose Lodge and attended Harvest Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Janice McIntosh, Edward J. O’Herron, and Catherine “Cookie” Premro.

His memory will forever be treasured by his adoring wife of 17 years, Cynthia Johns O’Herron; his son, William J. O’Herron; his step-daughter, Kimberly Phelps; his step-grandson, Anthony Phelps; his siblings, Nancy Ann Claudio, Sandra Trusdale, and Mary Edwards; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other extended family members and friends.

Visitation with Mr. O’Herron’s family will be Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Cowart officiating. Following the service, Mr. O’Herron will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
