William Coelton Reuter (Bill), born on April 10, 1950, in Decatur, Georgia, to the late Elizabeth Carey Taylor and Lester William Reuter, passed away peacefully at the age of 75.
Bill was the second oldest of 11 children. He is survived by all his siblings except his beloved sister Christy.
Raised in Kentucky, Bill graduated from Covington Catholic High School in 1968, where he built fond memories and family connections. On August 1, 1971, he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served for 13 years as an Avionics Electrician. It was during his service that he met the love of his life, Beverly Ann Allison. Their romance blossomed quickly, leading to a joyful wedding on October 7, 1972, at the Little Chapel of the Flowers in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage spanned over 53 years of shared adventures, unwavering support, and enduring love.
Bill pursued higher education at the University of Georgia, becoming a lifelong and passionate Georgia Dawgs fan—cheering through every game with the same enthusiasm he brought to everything he did.
A true jack-of-all-trades, Bill embraced a remarkably varied career path. He worked as an electrician, mechanic, real estate agent, car salesman, insurance seller, and even earned his CDL license. In 1975, he proudly obtained a diploma in Hamburgerology from McDonald’s, a quirky credential he loved to recount with a grin. Above all, Bill was a dedicated tinkerer—always fixing, building, or improving something around the house or in the garage.
What truly defined Bill was his deep love for serving people and his generous spirit. He was always ready to lend a hand—whether fixing a car, offering advice, sharing a meal, or simply being there when someone needed support. His kindness was quiet but consistent, and he gave freely of his time, talents, and resources without ever seeking recognition.
He found great joy in simple pleasures: solving puzzles of every kind, caring for animals, watching birds at the feeder, playing games with family and friends, and indulging his lifelong sweet tooth. Bill had an unapologetic love for cookies and ice cream, savoring them with delight until the very last day of his life. Above all, he cherished spending quality time with his family, whether gathered around the table for a game night, sharing stories, laughing together, or just being in each other’s company.
His warm, curious spirit, quick wit, and generous heart made him a favorite among family and friends.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Beverly; his five cherished children & spouses: Christopher James Reuter, Jennifer Capell Reuter (daughter-in-law), Eric William Reuter, Kimberly Dollar Reuter (daughter-in-law), Matthew Richard Reuter, Cecily Haynes Reuter (daughter-in-law), Stephany Elizabeth Ta, Richard Ta (son-in-law),and Allison Carey Reuter; his nine beloved grandchildren: Gabriel Joshua Reuter, Joshua Haden Reuter, Chloe Lynn Rankin, Gideon Makaio Ta, Autumn Nicole Haslett, Audrey Elizabeth Ta, Spencer Garrett Ta, Dallin Matthew Reuter, and Noah Coelton Reuter; and his two loyal canine companions, Zack and Leo, who brought him endless comfort and laughter in his later years.
Bill lived a full, hardworking, and love-filled life, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, family devotion, selfless service, quiet kindness, and a contagious appreciation for life’s sweetest moments. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the light, laughter, and love he brought to those around him.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1799 Houston Lake Rd, Perry, GA 31069. All who knew and loved Bill are warmly invited to attend, share memories, and honor his remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests honoring Bill by solving a puzzle, feeding the birds, enjoying a cookie with ice cream, playing a game with loved ones, helping someone in need, or simply spending time with family—activities that always brought him happiness.
McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with these arrangements.
