William Thomas “Tommy” Jones III, age 71, held hands again with his beloved wife, Teresa G. Jones in heaven, on the morning of Wednesday, November 23, 2022.
Tommy was born on June 24, 1951 in Tampa, FL and spent his formative years in Ashford, AL. In 8th grade, he moved with his family to Perry, GA where he graduated with Perry High School’s Class of ’69. Tommy was a true ‘Mr. Fix-it’ and a man of many interests to include late model sportsman auto racing. He also loved doing anything that involved family time. Tommy was a friend to everyone and could strike up a conversation with anyone he encountered. Additionally, he was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Perry from 1986 until 2002, then he became a member of Cross Point Perry where he served from 2003 until 2022. If you knew Tommy, you knew that he loved fiercely and proudly served his community and church whole-heartedly. His legacy is his life, his example and his impeccable character. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, William “Bill” Grimmett.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Nathan Garren (Victoria) of Richmond, VA, Miranda Helms (Scott) of Peachtree City, GA and Ashton Kate Harding (Jonathan) of Ringgold, GA; grandchildren, David Whitley, Henry Whitley, Roger Whitley, Alexander Garren and Andrew Helms; parents, Thelma and William Thomas Jones II of Perry, GA; brother, Ronald Jones (Paula) of Marshallville, GA; sister-in-law, Cheryl Brooks (Leroy) of Kathleen, GA; mother-in-law, Charlotte Grimmett of Kathleen, GA; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, December 3, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Cross Point Perry. A memorial service celebrating his life will immediately follow in the church at 11:00 a.m.
