Terry Wood, age 74, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and the faith that guided his life each and every day.
Born in Gainesville, Georgia, Terry moved with his family to Warner Robins in 1959, where he would build a life rooted in faith, service, family, and friendship. He graduated from Warner Robins High School and later attended Middle Georgia College. Terry dedicated many years of service to his community as the City Marshal and Code Enforcement Supervisor for the City of Warner Robins. He was also the former owner of International Doors, Inc., where his strong work ethic and integrity earned the respect of many.
A devoted servant of Christ, Terry faithfully served in many areas of ministry throughout his life. Over the years, he was a deacon and Sunday School teacher at both Central Baptist Church and First Baptist Church. He is currently a member of Centerpoint Church. While a member of Central Baptist Church, Terry served on the committee that successfully relocated the church from Watson Boulevard to its current location on Lake Joy Road. During that meaningful journey, Terry coined the well-known slogan, “Joy in the Journey,” a phrase that beautifully reflected both the church’s transition and the way Terry chose to live his life.
Terry faithfully served his church and community throughout his life. He also previously served on the Board of Directors for the Salvation Army, always seeking opportunities to help others and share his faith through compassion, leadership, and service.
Terry’s love for ministry extended beyond the church walls. He was the founder of the Middle Georgia Chapter of Black Sheep Harley-Davidson for Christ and later became the organization’s Regional Director. He also served as Chaplain for the Harley Owners Group, ministering to countless individuals through fellowship, encouragement, and prayer. Terry additionally served his country proudly in the Army National Guard for seven years.
Terry found great joy in simple moments spent with those he loved most — family beach trips, riding his motorcycle, golfing with his son and brothers, and playing cards with his grandchildren. His presence brought comfort, laughter, wisdom, and strength to every room he entered.
More than any title or accomplishment, Terry was a faithful family man who loved his family deeply and wholeheartedly. Fifty-three years ago, he married his high school sweetheart, Gail Monroe, beginning a beautiful life together filled with unwavering love and devotion. He was a giving and supportive father to his three children and a shining example of Christ to his nine beloved grandchildren.
His children and those closest to him often referred to him as “the strongest man they ever knew.” Terry faced life’s challenges with courage, determination, and steadfast faith, and he fought until the very end with the same strength and grace that defined his life.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Margaret Wood.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Gail Wood of Bonaire; children, Gia Graddy (Joey) of Hoover, AL, Miranda Stewart Pennone (Casey) of Bonaire, GA and Chad Wood (Shana) of Bonaire, GA; his grandchildren, Colby, Caden, and Callen Stewart, Asher, Anabelle, and Hudson Wood, Catcher and Scout Graddy, and Elly Pennone; siblings, Nancy Miller (Lee), Tommy Wood (Tami) and Ernie Wood (Beth); and many nieces and nephews, and sisters and brother in laws.
