Willie Thomas “Tommy” Epps was welcomed into Heaven on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the age of 86. There to welcome him was his beautiful wife of over 62 years, Joanne, as well as a host of other loving family members and friends.
Born in Macon, Georgia, on October 3, 1938, Tommy was the son of the late Clifford Eugene Epps, Sr. and Evelyn Beatrice King Epps. He was raised in Dry Branch, Georgia, and remained connected to his roots as a longtime member of Antioch Baptist Church and the Tyrian Masonic Lodge #111. Tommy proudly served in Civil Service for 35 years as a dedicated Computer Operator and Programmer.
Tommy and Joanne selflessly volunteered with the American Red Cross, was deployed on a hundred National Disasters, and were Georgia’s volunteers of the year in 2002. As an avid outdoorsman, Tommy found joy in nature; he especially loved hunting alongside his precious wife.
In addition to his loving wife and parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his wonderful daughter, Diane “Dina Bug;” son, Anthony Thomas “Tony” Epps; special foster son, Larry Langston; brothers, Ray and Pete Epps; grandmothers, Essie Dyer King, and Sallie Jones Epps; grandfathers, Willie Carlton King, and Charles Thomas Epps; and his hunting buddy, Bobby Brewer.
Tommy is survived by his daughter, Sherri Jackson (Steve); five grandchildren, April Lynn Merritt (Daniel), Jessica Lynn Epps, Charles Langston, Barbara Jean Collins, Sara Jean Epps, Abigail Marie Epps, and one great-grandson, Dustin Wayne Merritt.
Visitation family and friends will take place on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.
